Towards ever higher quality
|
Vargön Alloys AB was one of the first alloy works to receive
Lloyd's quality system approval in accordance with ISO 9002.
Renewal of that approval was achieved in 2001 according to ISO
9001:2008.
ISO approval is a guarantee that our quality
system lives up to high requirements at all levels in the
company, all the way from raw materials purchasing to delivery
of finished products. The entire company strives to ensure that
customers receive the right quality at the right time.
As
part of our quality assurance and operational control, we have
i.e. installed a fully automatic sampling station for all
incoming ores. ISO approval also assures that we continually
improve and upgrade our quality system. All employees are
trained on a continuous basis to uphold and develop an holistic
view of operations and knowledge of the company's equipment,
products and quality improvement work. This provides us with a
more effective organisation in which materials handling and
process control are well perceived and respected. |

Natural responsibility for the environment |
We take our responsibility for the environment readily.
There are many good reasons for staying well ahead in
developments in the environmental field.
Legislation is
the primary point of departure, but our ambitions are targeted
beyond this. Moreover, in terms of business economics it is wise
to invest in the advancement of flue-gas cleaning and energy
recovery. On a course of constant improvement to both the
outdoor and inplant environment we have committed substantial
investments.
Since the early 70s we have conducted a
long-term programme for flue-gas cleaning which has resulted in
emissions far below today´s official limits. Efficient use of
energy is one key factor of our environmental improvement work.
The reduction of energy consumption is also a must for
economic reasons. Our production is focused on ferrochrome and
ferrosilicon alloys which are important ingredients in special
steels including stainless steel. Life cycle analyses have shown
that these grades of steel have environmental advantages
superior to those of alternative materials.
Our
environmental control system is approved according to ISO
14001:2004 standard by Lloyds and forms the basis for our
environmental improvement work which is an important contributor
to our competetive advantage. |
